Was TRON Really Worth the Wait?

On this week’s #MagicMonday, we are taking a quick retrospective on the newest addition to the Magic Kingdom, and how TRON: Lightcycle Run’s first few months have been.

TRON Lightcycle Run Reivew

If you have visited the Magic Kingdom in Orlando, or more specifically, its Tomorrowland section in the past half-decade, you probably noticed a rather large addition coming in just to the north of the iconic Space Mountain. And yes, it really has been half a decade since construction started all the way back in 2018! Finally, on April 4, 2023, we got to see TRON: Lightcycle Run open up to the public.

It has been rumored that this area was originally set aside during Magic Kingdom’s construction for a future import of the Matterhorn ride from Disneyland in Anaheim, but we think that the futuristic canopy of TRON is much more fitting next to Tomorrowland.

So, how is it?

Good I think sums up most guests experiences. While the ride is quite short, guests have been very happy at the smooth, swooping coaster, and the canopy lit up at night is definitely a beautiful addition to Magic Kingdom.

Guests also have reported positively about the queue theming and music which is something I am very much looking forward to on our July visit as I am kind of a nerd for queues. There have been a few fitment issues with the ride that you can read about here if you are concerned and is a good thing for your party members to be aware of, before any awkward encounters at the loading station.

Overall TRON is a welcome addition to Tomorrowland, even though it may be a bit underwhelming overall when compared to experiences like Rise of the Resistance or Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
