Best AC Stops in Animal Kingdom

Considered by some to be Disney’s hottest park, Animal Kingdom heat can sneak up on you!  On this week’s #MagicMonday we will be giving you the tips to survive the “wild” heat at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

While the large trees and shade cover can make it seems like Animal Kingdom might be a break from the summer sun, it is truly the queues and Florida humidity that make this park a beast in the heat.  As locals know, on a hot summer day it can feel just as hot in the shade as it does in the sun and almost every Animal Kingdom attraction has an outdoor queue.  Kilimanjaro Safaris, Expedition Everest, Kali River Rapids, and even Navi River Journey will leave you cooking in the outdoors when you would normally be inside at parks like Magic Kingdom our Hollywood Studios.

Flight of Passage

Anyone who has visited this masterpiece attraction will rave about it’s beautiful and diverse queue, which is much needed for the over two hour queue times that it is likely to accumulate.  The best part about it though, is that at least half of your wait time should be taking place indoors, so hop in that 80 minute queue and soak in that AC!  There is even a bathroom and water break mid-queue that you can take advantage of for some extra reprieve.

Dinosaur

I know, Dinosaur is not my favorite attraction either, BUT it does have an indoor queue!  It is a bit out of the way, but Dinosaur can provide a nice AC break for your family if you find yourself toward the front of the park, or even over in the Asia section.

Festival of the Lion King and It’s Tough To Be a Bug both offer a great chance to duck out of the heat.  It’s Tough To Be a Bug is located dead-center in the park, making it very easy to reach from anywhere you are getting overheated, and Festival of the Lion King can make for a perfect break after sweating it out on your late morning or afternoon Safari.

Be sure to keep these attractions in mind when mapping out your summer Animal Kingdom visit, and check out our guides to AC breaks in all four parks by clicking here.
